Reading
We are begin the year learning how to extract details from a fiction text. We will learn how to use those details to support the main idea. We will use our in our first core text How to Steal a Dog as our guide. The lovable story about a little girl who tries to help her family pay for a home. She devices a plan to steal a dog to help pay for rent. During the story, our students will grapple with the ever difficult questions about; right and wrong, stealing, friendship, and true happiness. We will be using the novel to us learn how to break apart text.
Writing
We will begin by learning how to create a formal story. We will learn that a story needs an introduction, characters, plot, suspense, climax, and a conclusion. On our journey will be touching upon; punctuation, capitalization, subject, and predicate. We will be striving to complete our Haunted House story by the middle of October.
